Iran fired ballistic missiles at a US air base in Jordan, and the US responded with about five hours of continuous airstrikes on targets inside Iran, cryptocurrency-focused media outlet BlockBeats reported on July 14.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, or IRGC, said it launched ballistic missiles at a US air base in Jordan.

The IRGC also called on Jordanians to resist the US military presence in the country.

Jordan said its air defenses intercepted four Iranian missiles after they entered the country’s airspace. No casualties or property damage were reported.

In response, US Central Command carried out roughly five hours of continuous airstrikes on targets inside Iran with the approval of President Donald Trump. The operation marked the third straight day of large-scale US airstrikes against Iran.

Iranian media reported that several targets, including Bandar Abbas, were struck. Some naval maintenance facilities were also damaged.

Tensions around the Strait of Hormuz also persist. Trump recently said the US would maintain security in the waterway and outlined a plan to impose a 20% charge on cargo passing through the strait.

International oil prices at one point climbed nearly 3% as Middle East tensions escalated. Markets are watching for broader global energy supply disruptions if shipping risks in the Strait of Hormuz increase further.
