President Donald Trump said the US would provide support if Iraq asks for protection.

Walter Bloomberg reported on July 14 that Trump had heard from several countries that want to invest in the US rather than impose transit fees in the Strait of Hormuz. He said investment in the US by Gulf states would be a better option.

Trump also said no one should impose transit fees in the Strait of Hormuz.

Addressing the recent rise in tensions, he added, "They fired the first shot, and that was a big mistake."
