Trump Teleprompter Operator Faces CFTC Probe Over Kalshi Betting Allegations

A teleprompter operator for US President Donald Trump is being investigated by federal regulators over allegations that the person placed bets on prediction-market platform Kalshi tied to the contents of Trump's speeches.

CNBC reported on July 16 that the individual made more than $90,000 in profit through Kalshi trades.

Kalshi said it detected suspicious trading in contracts tied to words or phrases expected to be mentioned in the president's scheduled speeches and froze most of the funds.

The case has been referred to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, which is investigating the matter.
