A paid data service that would let clients receive U.S. President Donald Trump’s Truth Social posts milliseconds before ordinary users is drawing criticism on Wall Street.

The Financial Times reported July 17 that Trump Media & Technology Group has been discussing the launch of a “Truth API” service with potential customers at a price of about $100,000 a month. The company operates Truth Social, where Trump has 12.9 million followers. Trump’s family is the controlling shareholder of the company.

Truth API would deliver the president’s posts milliseconds before they appear in the standard feed. Proprietary trading firms and hedge funds often pay steep prices for ultrafast data services to get market-moving information ahead of rivals. Trump has used Truth Social to announce tariffs and foreign, diplomatic and security policy decisions, making the service a potential draw for high-frequency trading firms and quantitative hedge funds.

In marketing materials, Trump Media highlighted 10 presidential posts that it said moved markets. The company said international oil prices rose as much as 6% intraday after Trump posted in early June that the U.S. would attack Iran “very strongly tonight.” It also cited an April 9, 2025, post in which Trump wrote that “this is a great time to buy,” after which the S&P 500 regained $4 trillion in market capitalization, according to the company.

On Wall Street, critics have objected to a structure that would require firms to pay a company tied to the president’s family for earlier access to his posts. A hedge fund executive said market participants may have little choice but to sign up because receiving related news later than competitors could lead to substantial losses.
