Global cryptocurrency exchange Binance, which says it has more than 320 million users worldwide, is stepping up a strategy to become a financial super app beyond its trading platform.

Binance said on July 21 that it is accelerating its evolution into next-generation digital financial infrastructure, building on the global user base it has amassed over the past nine years and its regulatory compliance capabilities.

The company is expanding its services as the boundary between digital assets and traditional finance erodes and demand grows for integrated financial services covering investing, payments, remittances and asset management on a single platform.

As part of that strategy, Binance is offering a range of on-chain financial services, including pre-IPO perpetuals, on-chain stock tokens and prediction markets. It said the aim is to provide blockchain-based investment access to assets that have been difficult to reach through traditional financial markets.

The company is also pushing further into everyday finance. Binance Pay, its global on-chain payments service, now supports a network of more than 20 million merchants worldwide, with cumulative payment volume surpassing $280 billion.

Binance said blockchain- and stablecoin-based settlement has reduced foreign-exchange costs and fees tied to overseas investing and cross-border remittances to less than one-tenth of the level charged by traditional financial networks, improving financial access and efficiency.

Trust infrastructure is also a pillar of Binance's financial super-app strategy. The company said it has secured regulatory approvals and licenses in 20 public- and private-sector jurisdictions worldwide. Those include formal approval from the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Abu Dhabi Global Market. Binance also said it has obtained 29 global security and compliance certifications, including ISO 27001 for information security, ISO 27701 for privacy protection and ISO/IEC 42001 for AI management systems.

Binance said it invests about $300 million annually to strengthen its compliance framework. That represents about 0.22% of assets held on the platform, above the traditional finance industry average of 0.14%. About 1,500 employees, or roughly 25% of its workforce, are dedicated to regulatory compliance and user protection.

The company is also reinforcing its AI-based defense systems. Binance said it operates more than 24 AI projects and over 100 security models. Computer vision technology is used to detect forged payment documents, while real-time language analysis systems help identify and block fraud patterns in peer-to-peer, or P2P, transactions.

Binance said those technology investments helped prevent about $10.53 billion in potential user losses from the first quarter of 2025 through the first quarter of 2026.

The use of AI is also set to expand beyond security and compliance into investment support. Binance said it plans to advance AI-based financial services to help users make more informed decisions before investing, backed by professional information and analysis.

"Before long, an era will open in which digital assets, stocks and RWAs are naturally connected within a single platform," Binance co-Chief Executive Officer He Yi said. "As a financial super app spanning investing, payments, remittances and asset management, Binance will build an ecosystem that gives anyone easy and secure access to global financial services."
