Robinhood-Backed DEX Arcus Launches Tokenized Stocks, Perpetual Futures

Arcus, a decentralized exchange backed by Robinhood, has expanded its offerings to include tokenized stocks and perpetual futures.
Cointelegraph reported on July 21 that Arcus, developed by the dYdX team and backed by Robinhood Crypto, launched tokenized stocks and perpetual futures on Robinhood Chain that day.
Arcus initially rolled out a spot market when Robinhood Chain launched on July 1. With the expansion, users can trade more than 95 stock tokens, perpetual futures and cryptocurrencies through self-custodial trading accounts. Paxos-issued stablecoin USDG is used as the main collateral and settlement asset.
The new lineup includes tokenized shares of major U.S. companies such as Nvidia, Tesla, Apple, Microsoft, Meta, Google and Amazon. Arcus also offers perpetual futures tied to stocks, exchange-traded funds, commodities, indexes and cryptocurrencies.
Arcus uses a self-custody model instead of requiring users to place assets with a centralized exchange. Users can create wallets using email or social logins, and can also connect existing self-custody wallets such as MetaMask, Ledger and WalletConnect.
Tokenized stocks are not available in some restricted jurisdictions, including the U.S., Canada and the U.K. Arcus said that reflects continuing regulatory differences over the issuance, ownership, custody and market structure of tokenized securities.
