Telegram plans to introduce a non-custodial cryptocurrency wallet for users worldwide.

Pavel Durov, Telegram’s founder, wrote on his Telegram channel on July 21 that the company plans to launch what he described as the largest non-custodial cryptocurrency wallet in history this summer.

Instant, fee-free cryptocurrency transactions for more than 1 billion users are close to becoming reality, he said. Telegram will offer a native non-custodial GRAM wallet across all of its apps.

GRAM is the native token of The Open Network, or TON, the blockchain tied to the Telegram ecosystem. Toncoin, or TON, was renamed Gram, or GRAM, in June.

GRAM also rose. The token was trading at $1.53, up 8.52% over the past 24 hours, according to CoinMarketCap.

A non-custodial wallet allows users to control their assets directly instead of relying on an exchange or another third party to hold them.
