AMD has signed an artificial intelligence chip supply deal with Anthropic worth tens of billions of dollars.

The Wall Street Journal reported on July 22 that AMD and Anthropic recently entered into a supply and investment agreement for chips used in AI servers.

Under the agreement, Anthropic plans to purchase up to 2 gigawatts of AMD's next-generation Instinct MI450 AI accelerators starting in the first half of next year. The deal is reportedly worth tens of billions of dollars.

AMD also agreed to invest as much as $5 billion in Anthropic once deployment of the chips covered by the deal reaches certain milestones. It would mark AMD's first strategic investment in Anthropic.
