iotrust Begins Sales of Card-Style Cold Wallet D'CENT S

iotrust, a South Korean cryptocurrency wallet maker, said July 23 that it has begun official sales of its card-style cold wallet, D'CENT S.

D'CENT S is the company's first new product since 2018. It is designed to reduce the inconvenience of storing recovery phrases, a common issue for hardware wallet users.

The package includes a main card for regular use and a backup "R3covery Card." The company said many hardware wallet users write recovery phrases on paper and store them separately in case a device is lost or damaged. That can leave the paper vulnerable to loss or damage, while exposure of the recovery phrase can put assets at risk.

Existing card-style wallets are highly portable, but many require a separate backup method in case the device is lost or damaged. iotrust said that is why it made a backup card part of D'CENT S's standard package.

D'CENT S does not require a battery or cables. Users can operate it by tapping the card on a smartphone. The company said the process is similar to making a card payment and that the product was designed to be easier to use for people who found existing hardware wallets difficult.

Users can carry the main card for cryptocurrency transactions in daily use. The R3covery Card should be stored in a physically separate location such as a safe, the company said.

If the main card is lost or damaged, users can restore access to their assets through the D'CENT app by tapping the backup card on a smartphone. The recovery process takes about one minute, according to the company.
