Coinbase has started offering enterprise clients infrastructure that lets AI agents process payments autonomously.

Cointelegraph reported on July 23 that Coinbase launched a feature allowing enterprise customers to receive USDC payments from AI agents. The feature is built on the x402 payment standard, which Coinbase first introduced in May 2025, and is designed to enable AI agents, applications and APIs to process stablecoin payments over HTTP.

Coinbase also unveiled AI-based trading tools and a software development kit, or SDK, for developers. The trading tools support order monitoring, real-time market data queries and automatic execution based on preset conditions. The SDK is intended for developers building applications based on AI agents.

Coinbase said the product suite was designed to support the "agentic economy," in which AI agents handle payments, asset management and other tasks on behalf of users. It also said adoption of AI agents is spreading rapidly, noting that traffic generated by AI agents on its Base documentation page surpassed human-generated traffic for the first time last month.
