South Korea’s Lee Leaves for San Francisco to Discuss AI Cooperation With Big Tech CEOs

President begins 11-day overseas trip

President Lee Jae-myung departed Seoul Air Base for San Francisco on July 24 to begin an 11-day overseas trip.

After arriving in the morning, Lee is set to open his schedule with meetings with the chief executive officers of Nvidia, OpenAI, Anthropic and Broadcom.

He will then attend the San Francisco AI Summit to discuss cooperation with business leaders leading advanced industries including artificial intelligence. Lee is also due to announce the “San Francisco AI Declaration,” laying out his goal of making South Korea a key country in the global AI ecosystem and his vision for international cooperation.

The event will also be attended by Samsung Electronics Chairman Jay Y. Lee, SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung and Naver Chairman Lee Hae-jin, in addition to the big tech CEOs meeting with Lee. A dinner hosted by the president for South Korean and US business leaders is also scheduled for the evening.

The following day, Lee will meet the heads of Silicon Valley’s top six venture capital firms to encourage investment in South Korean startups and discuss ways to expand cooperation between the two countries. After completing his San Francisco schedule, Lee will visit Brazil, Chile, Argentina and Germany before returning home on Aug. 3.
