Patrick Witt, executive director of the White House crypto council, pushed back after Democrats argued that ethics provisions in the Republican-backed CLARITY Act were insufficient.

In an interview with crypto media outlet CoinDesk on July 24, Witt said the ethics language was “exactly what Democrats asked for” and that President Donald Trump had agreed to accept limits on his conduct. No previous president had done so, he added.

Witt said Democrats are now seeking even tighter restrictions on Trump. “You can’t hit two home runs with one swing,” he said.
