White House crypto council Executive Director Patrick Witt pushed back after Democrats argued that ethics provisions in the Republican-led CLARITY Act bill were insufficient.
In an interview with CoinDesk on July 24, Witt said the ethics language was “exactly what Democrats had asked for.” President Donald Trump agreed to limits on his conduct, he added, saying no previous president had done that.
Democrats are now seeking even tougher constraints on Trump, Witt said. “You can’t hit two home runs with one swing.”
