Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung met Nvidia Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang on July 24 at Nvidia’s headquarters in Santa Clara, California. It was their first meeting in 46 days since they last met on June 8 at Hyundai Motor Group’s headquarters in Seoul.
Nvidia on July 25 posted on X, formerly Twitter, a photo of Chung visiting its Santa Clara headquarters and posing with Huang.
The two discussed autonomous driving, robotics and manufacturing AI during the visit, according to the report. They also held follow-up talks on cooperation measures first discussed in June.
During his June 8 visit to Seoul, Huang went to Hyundai Motor Group’s headquarters in Seoul’s Seocho district, where he and Chung reached a broad understanding on cooperation across multiple fields. Huang also described Saemangeum, where Hyundai Motor Group plans to invest, as South Korea’s “AI Valley” and mentioned potential cooperation on data centers. That suggests the two also discussed cooperation related to the Saemangeum project.
Hyundai Motor Group plans to invest 9 trillion won ($6.5 billion) in phases starting this year at its 1.124 million-square-meter site in Saemangeum. The company aims to build a future-technology innovation hub spanning robotics, AI, hydrogen energy, solar power and an AI hydrogen city.
Hyundai Motor Group has been expanding its collaboration with Nvidia since last year. It signed a strategic partnership with the US chipmaker in January 2025 and reached another agreement in October to advance South Korea’s physical AI capabilities.
Hyundai Motor Group has secured 50,000 next-generation Blackwell GPUs, laying the foundation to strengthen its robotics and autonomous-driving businesses. The two companies also plan to invest about $3 billion to establish an Nvidia AI Technology Center and a Hyundai Motor Group Physical AI Application Center in South Korea.
In March, Hyundai Motor Group said it would begin jointly developing next-generation autonomous-driving solutions by combining its software-defined vehicle capabilities with Nvidia’s autonomous-driving technology.
Chung and Huang are also scheduled to attend the San Francisco AI Summit later in the day, an event that will draw South Korean business leaders and Big Tech executives.
