Kim Yong-beom Says SK, Samsung Reach $950 Billion in Chip Supply Deals

South Korean companies and big tech firms including Nvidia have signed semiconductor supply agreements worth a combined $950 billion.

Kim Yong-beom, the presidential chief policy aide, said on July 24 that SK had agreed to pursue long-term cooperation with global big tech companies including Nvidia to supply advanced memory chips worth $750 billion over the next five years.

Samsung Electronics and Broadcom signed a $200 billion semiconductor supply memorandum of understanding, while SK Group will pursue $750 billion in chip supply cooperation with big tech companies including Nvidia.

Kim also outlined progress in talks on AI data center cooperation beyond the semiconductor sector.

In AI data centers, South Korean companies and global big tech firms agreed to pursue investment cooperation for large-scale facilities with about 5 gigawatts of capacity and roughly 2 million GPUs based on Nvidia's B200.

Hyundai Motor Group and Nvidia agreed to jointly build a standardized robot reference platform for developing and testing AI robots to support robot development by universities and startups. Naver will build a large-scale global AI factory worth a total of $10 billion through a strategic investment agreement with Nvidia and an infrastructure supply contract with global investment firm Brookfield.

Samsung SDS and Anthropic signed a strategic partnership agreement to jointly develop new AI markets and train AI engineers.
