Iran Says Message Exchanges With US Continue

Esmaeil Baqaei, spokesman for Iran's Foreign Ministry, said July 26 that messages are still being exchanged between Iran and the US and that mediation efforts by intermediary countries are continuing.

IRNA reported that Baqaei disclosed the ongoing communication in an interview that day with Austrian public broadcaster ORF.

He also said the Islamabad agreement, a previous ceasefire memorandum of understanding, was not a long or complex document but a short MOU made up of 14 clauses.

People around the world had expected that, at least this time, the US would keep its promise, he added.

Instead, Washington's actions amounted to a blatant and serious violation of several provisions of the agreement, he said, calling it a third diplomatic betrayal by the US.
