US Senate Republicans Push Procedural Vote on CLARITY Act This Week as Democrats Hold Key

US Senate Republicans plan to pursue a procedural vote this week to bring the CLARITY Act, a digital-asset market structure bill, to the floor for formal consideration, Crypto in America reported.

The report, published July 27, said Republicans aim to pass the bill before Congress begins its recess on Aug. 7. They first plan to hold a procedural vote to open debate. The measure needs 60 votes to advance, making Democratic support the key variable.

Seven Democratic senators have previously said the latest version of the CLARITY Act still falls short on ethics rules, anti-money laundering provisions and conflict-of-interest safeguards. Republicans are continuing negotiations to revise those provisions and secure Democratic backing.

Senator Mitch McConnell is also expected to be absent. The positions of Senators Josh Hawley and Rand Paul, who voted against the GENIUS Act, are another variable.
