Circuit breakers were triggered for a second straight day on July 29 after the Kospi tumbled more than 8% in intraday trading.
The Korea Exchange said it activated a circuit breaker at 12:32:32 p.m., halting trading on the benchmark stock market for 20 minutes. The measure was triggered after the Kospi stayed down more than 8% from the previous close for one minute. At the time, the index stood at 5,532.33, down 491.33 points, or 8.15%, from the previous session.
A circuit breaker was also triggered on the Kosdaq market at 12:19:12 p.m., following a halt the previous day. The measure was activated after the Kosdaq remained down more than 8% from the prior close for one minute. At the time, the index stood at 649.0, down 56.85 points, or 8.05%, from the previous session.
