In an interview with Fox News on July 29, Trump said, “We will hit them hard,” referring to Iran. He added that Iran would “pay a severe price.”
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, or IRGC, said on July 28 that it had attacked the US base in Jordan with ballistic missiles. The group said threats from US officials and what it called illegal interference in Iran’s national interests must stop. It said its resistance would continue as long as those threats persist.
Trump said he personally watched footage showing US forces reporting coordinates in real time during the interception.
