Iran is not currently holding talks with the US, the Iranian government said.

Odaily, a cryptocurrency news outlet, reported on August 3 that Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said, "We are not currently in talks with the United States."

He added that Iran is in talks with Oman over the Strait of Hormuz.

Following the remarks, West Texas Intermediate briefly rose to $78.5 a barrel and Brent crude climbed to $83.12 a barrel during the session.
