U.S. manufacturing activity in July improved slightly more than expected.

S&P Global said on August 3 that its U.S. manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index for July came in at 53.9. The reading was slightly above both the market forecast and the previous month's 53.8.

A PMI reading above 50 signals expansion, while a reading below 50 indicates contraction. The data suggests U.S. manufacturing remained in expansion territory.
