US, Iran Have No New Talks Scheduled, but Mediated Contacts Continue

The US has not scheduled any new talks with Iran, despite comments by President Donald Trump, CBS reported.

Walter Bloomberg reported on August 3 that US officials told CBS no new US-Iran negotiations are planned. They added that Steve Witkoff, the US special envoy to the Middle East, and Iranian officials remain in contact through mediators.

Iran, meanwhile, reaffirmed that it is not holding direct talks with the US. It said it is consulting with Oman and that the discussions are limited to ship transit through the Strait of Hormuz.
