Anna Paulson, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, said the Federal Reserve may need to take additional action if progress on slowing inflation stalls.

Paulson told CNBC on August 4 that this is a complicated period for setting monetary policy, according to Walter Bloomberg, a real-time markets news feed. Inflation remains too high, and she wants to see it move lower.

She said a modestly restrictive monetary policy stance is needed and that the Fed’s current policy appears to have already reached that level.

If there is no progress in bringing inflation down, the Fed will need to act, Paulson added.
