Major Hedge Funds Targeted in AI Voice-Phishing Cyberattack

Citadel, Point72 and Two Sigma were targeted in a large-scale cyberattack using AI-based voice phishing, Walter Bloomberg reported on August 5.

The attackers used AI-generated voices in an attempt to trick employees and gain access to internal systems. Two Sigma blocked the attack and found no evidence of a system breach.

Cybersecurity experts warned that advances in AI are lowering the cost of large-scale cyberattacks and making them easier to carry out, heightening security risks across the financial industry.
