Tether, the issuer of the USDT stablecoin, is expanding its real-world asset tokenization business into the Middle East, starting with Saudi Arabia’s real estate market.
CoinDesk reported on August 6 that Tether will use its Hadron tokenization platform to provide issuance and management services for tokenized real estate assets to institutional investors in Saudi Arabia. First Data and fintech firm BKN301 are participating as local partners.
Tether said the business could later expand beyond real estate into other real-world assets, including energy and infrastructure finance. Hadron is the platform the company launched in 2024 to simplify the asset tokenization process. Tether also issues XAUT, a tokenized gold product valued at $2.6 billion.
“Saudi Arabia, which is pursuing Vision 2030, is an ideal market to demonstrate the practical impact of platforms like Hadron,” Chief Executive Officer Paolo Ardoino said.
As part of Vision 2030, its economic diversification strategy, Saudi Arabia is promoting the adoption of enterprise blockchain across finance, government and supply chains. Global financial institutions are also moving to tokenize traditional assets including money-market funds, private credit, real estate and equities. Citi projects the tokenized securities market will grow to $5.5 trillion by 2030.
