Michael Saylor, chairman of Strategy, said Bitcoin does not need the cryptocurrency market structure bill known as the CLARITY Act after a US Senate floor vote on the measure was pushed to September.
Writing on X on August 7, Saylor said, “Bitcoin does not need the CLARITY Act” and added that “what needs clarity is America.”
The Senate floor vote on the CLARITY Act has been delayed until September. Politico earlier reported, citing multiple people familiar with the matter, that Senate Republican leaders were expected to begin the August recess this week without holding a floor vote on the bill.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune could still file cloture to advance debate on the legislation. But a final floor vote is now set to come after senators return from recess in September.
Prediction markets are pricing the odds of the CLARITY Act passing this year in the low teens. On global prediction market platform Polymarket, the probability stood at 14% as of August 7.
