In a recent interview cited by Cointelegraph and other outlets on August 7, Trump said, "Cryptocurrency is a very important thing." He added that people are paying with Bitcoin and that it "takes a lot of pressure off the dollar," calling that "a good thing for our country."
Trump also said the US does not want China to take over the crypto market.
The remarks came after an August vote in the full US Senate on the Clarity Act, a bill aimed at setting market structure rules for the US crypto industry, failed to take place. On global prediction market Polymarket, the odds of the Clarity Act passing this year stood at 14% as of August 7.
