TD Cowen said the US Securities and Exchange Commission’s public meeting on Aug. 14 could mark a major turning point for cryptocurrency regulation.
The investment bank said, according to The Block on Aug. 11, that the SEC may establish a separate regulatory framework for the legal issuance and sale of tokens by crypto projects. It also said the agency could first introduce a safe harbor that would temporarily exempt early-stage token sales from securities registration requirements.
