Santander economist Stephen Stanley said July U.S. consumer price index data is unlikely to be decisive for the Federal Reserve's September rate decision, Walter Bloomberg reported on August 12.
July core CPI rose 0.215% from the previous month, equivalent to an annualized pace of 2.6%, Stanley said.
He maintained his forecast that the Fed will raise rates in September and again in December, even though the inflation data broadly matched expectations.
