Pascal Gauthier, chief executive officer of hardware wallet maker Ledger, said there is no such thing as perfect security in the cryptocurrency industry.
Gauthier told crypto-focused media outlet U.Today on August 17 that the industry must stop trying to address security issues by shifting more responsibility onto users. If self-custody requires ordinary users to understand every technical failure that could occur, its adoption will remain limited.
He added that hardware wallet makers should build systems that protect assets even when users make mistakes. Users, meanwhile, should not automatically trust manufacturers simply because they claim their products are secure.
