The U.S. Department of Defense has concluded there is currently no military option that can guarantee safe shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, according to a report.
Iran's Press TV reported on August 17, citing regional intelligence sources, that the Pentagon had determined none of the military plans under review could ensure the safe passage of vessels through the strait.
The sources said the assessment is fueling President Donald Trump's frustration as the U.S. struggles to secure the Strait of Hormuz, a key oil shipping route.
Separately, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, or IRGC, said it was prepared to respond to any military threat or attack.
