Ethereum developers have delayed the target for the next mainnet upgrade, Glamsterdam, from the first half of 2026 to the fourth quarter of 2026.
CryptoSlate reported on Aug. 17 that the Ethereum development team launched Platåberget, the public testnet for Glamsterdam. The team plans to conduct tests for several months before expanding to the Sepolia and Hoodi testnets.
Developers have also begun work to define the scope of Hegotá, the upgrade slated to follow Glamsterdam. They are reviewing 66 proposed Ethereum Improvement Proposals, or EIPs, and plan to finalize the priority candidates by the end of this month.
Potential features under discussion for Hegotá include faster block production, greater Layer 1 throughput, stronger censorship resistance and improved privacy. Many of the proposals, however, may be excluded or pushed to a later upgrade because of development timelines.
