Ethereum developers have pushed back the target date for the network’s next mainnet upgrade, Glamsterdam, to the fourth quarter of 2026 from the first half of that year.

CryptoSlate reported on August 17 that the Ethereum development team has launched Platåberget, the public testnet for Glamsterdam. It plans to conduct testing for several months before expanding to the Sepolia and Hoodi testnets.

Developers have also begun work to define the scope of Hegotá, the upgrade set to follow Glamsterdam. They are reviewing 66 proposed Ethereum Improvement Proposals, or EIPs, for Hegotá and plan to decide by the end of August which ones will be prioritized.

Proposals under review for Hegotá include faster block production, greater Layer 1 throughput, stronger censorship resistance and improved privacy features. Many of the proposals, however, may be dropped or deferred to a later upgrade because of development timelines and scheduling constraints.
