Anthropic’s Revenue Run Rate Hits $65 Billion, Up More Than Sevenfold

Forecasts $65 billion in annual revenue on a run-rate basis this year

Valuation reached about $965 billion in May, surpassing OpenAI

Anthropic is on pace to generate more than $65 billion in annual revenue this year based on its current results. That would be more than seven times the level at the end of last year.

Bloomberg reported on Aug. 18 that Anthropic’s annualized revenue run rate reached $65 billion at the end of July. The metric assumes the company’s current pace of revenue growth continues for a full year. Anthropic disclosed the figure in the course of providing regular updates to investors.

The jump in revenue is lending support to Anthropic’s initial public offering plans. Anthropic and OpenAI have both confidentially filed paperwork for listings, and Anthropic is poised to debut on a US exchange this fall ahead of OpenAI.

Anthropic, the developer of Claude and Fable, was valued at $965 billion after a May fundraising round, making it one of the world’s largest private companies. That exceeded the valuation of its biggest rival, OpenAI.

Once viewed as an underdog, Anthropic has gained traction with AI tools that streamline complex tasks, including coding. Its annual revenue topped $9 billion by the end of 2025 and surpassed $47 billion in May. OpenAI also recently exceeded $40 billion, though the two companies may measure revenue differently.

Bloomberg previously reported that Anthropic’s preliminary quarterly revenue recently topped $11.5 billion. The company also posted adjusted operating profit for the quarter.

If Anthropic proceeds with an IPO this fall, it would list before both OpenAI and DeepSeek, the Chinese AI company that has recently been gaining share in the AI market.
