Cantor Fitzgerald will offer institutional clients access to event contracts on prediction-market platform Kalshi.
The Wall Street Journal reported on Aug. 19 that the U.S. investment bank recently decided to support trading in Kalshi event contracts for about 3,000 institutional clients, including hedge funds and family offices.
Cantor Fitzgerald will act as a broker, handling large event-contract trades for those clients. The firm is also considering reselling contracts it secures in consultation with clients to other investors.
Institutional clients may also propose topics for event contracts. Cantor Fitzgerald has been in talks to identify the kinds of contracts investors want, the Journal reported.
"The dozens of investors we met were very eager to enter prediction markets," Pascal Bandelier, Cantor Fitzgerald's co-chief executive officer, said.
Kalshi has also been stepping up its push for institutional clients. "There is already demand among institutional investors to manage risk tied to specific events separately," Max Crowley, Kalshi's vice president of business development, said.
