Cybersecurity firm Rapid7 said on Aug. 20 that the campaign had obtained roughly 885,000 phone numbers and used them in cryptocurrency phishing attacks.
Attackers used phishing websites and phone scams to steer users to fake cryptocurrency wallets, where they stole sensitive information including wallet recovery phrases.
