MoonPay, a global crypto payments and stablecoin infrastructure company, said on August 21 that it has added Cash App Pay as a payment option. Eligible users in the US can now use their Cash App balances to buy digital assets through MoonPay.

The integration follows MoonPay’s additions of PayPal and Venmo, widening the links between traditional financial services and the on-chain ecosystem.

After linking Cash App Pay to MoonPay once, users can complete purchases with a one-tap payment during checkout. They do not need to move to a separate payment page or go through additional authentication. The feature also lets users pay with balances already held in financial apps, streamlining the crypto purchase process.

Cash App Pay is available not only on MoonPay’s own platform but also on select partner services connected to the MoonPay network, including Trust Wallet, Bitcoin.com, MetaMask, Moonshot, Ledger, BitPay, Uniswap, Tangem, LOBSTR and Edge.

Cash App is a financial services platform that supports money transfers, payments, savings, stock trading and Bitcoin buying and selling. With the integration, users can now use their Cash App balances to purchase crypto.

"Following PayPal and Venmo, MoonPay is continuing to expand the ways users can move naturally from the financial apps they use every day into the on-chain ecosystem," said Ivan Soto-Wright, MoonPay co-founder and Asia lead. "The fact that large fintech platforms are beginning to connect with the on-chain ecosystem is also significant because it shows the center of gravity in financial infrastructure is shifting toward users."

He added that he hopes familiar financial services in South Korea will also connect more naturally with on-chain environments, helping broaden experiences that let users manage their assets more directly.

MoonPay holds a BitLicense from the New York State Department of Financial Services and a Limited Purpose Trust Company Charter in New York. It has also secured authorization under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets regulation, or MiCA, as well as related registrations in the UK, Australia and Canada.

MoonPay said it plans to keep expanding crypto payment access points and user experience through payment infrastructure linking traditional payment networks with blockchain networks.
