BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes said Ether will outperform other major cryptocurrencies during the current liquidity-driven rebound in digital-asset markets.
Odaily reported on August 24 that Hayes made the remarks in a recent interview on the Altcoin Daily podcast. "In this liquidity rebound in the crypto market, Ethereum will outperform all other large-cap cryptocurrencies," he said.
Asked where Ether could trade if Bitcoin rises to $200,000 within the next five years, Hayes said he did not know the exact ratio. He added that Ether could reach $20,000, $25,000 or even $30,000.
Hayes also said Bitcoin's market share could decline. He said Bitcoin dominance, currently around 60%, could fall to 40%.
"During the 2020-2021 DeFi bull run, Bitcoin dominance fell to 25% to 26%, but I don't think it will drop that far again," he said. "Still, a decline to 40% is possible, and Ethereum will drive most of that move."
He added that Ether, as the largest asset after Bitcoin, could rise faster and by a greater margin than any other token, effectively reducing Bitcoin's market dominance.
