An anonymous hacker who leaked unreleased “GTA 6” footage sold the entire holding of a self-issued meme coin just hours before the game’s official gameplay reveal. The token fell about 46% over the following 24 hours.

CoinDesk reported on August 27 that the hacker had spent the previous nine days promoting Solana-based meme coin CyberLeek by inserting its watermark into leaked GTA 6 videos.

CyberLeek’s market capitalization at one point climbed to $25 million. The token then dropped about 46% in 24 hours after the hacker sold in one shot tokens collected through fees. The proceeds are estimated at more than $250,000.

Take-Two Interactive, the parent of GTA 6 developer Rockstar Games, issued subpoenas to X, Microsoft and Discord to identify the leaker.

On-chain analysts traced the flow of funds to a KuCoin account that had completed know-your-customer verification, raising the possibility that the account could help identify the leaker.
