MoonPay Adds AI Access to Solana Lending With Natural-Language Commands

Crypto payments platform MoonPay has added a feature that lets users access Solana-based deposit and lending services through AI agents.

MoonPay has integrated Solana-based lending protocol Kamino into PayBox, its AI-focused payment vault service, CoinDesk reported on August 27. Eligible users can instruct AI tools such as ChatGPT or Claude in natural language to deposit tokens or borrow against crypto collateral.

Kamino is one of the leading decentralized finance lending protocols in the Solana ecosystem. It has about $1.3 billion in total value locked, according to DefiLlama, and about $1 billion in active loans.

The update does not launch a new lending product. Instead, it allows users to execute existing Kamino services through AI-powered natural-language commands. Users can choose to require passkey approval for each transaction or allow AI to execute trades automatically within preset limits.

The service carries risks. Positions can be forcibly liquidated under Kamino's rules if collateral values fall below a certain threshold. Because the system relies on AI to interpret instructions and execute transactions, errors may also occur during execution.

MoonPay launched PayBox in July with support for payments, token swaps, bridging and Aave-based yield features. The Kamino integration expands PayBox's DeFi capabilities into Solana-based lending.

The service is not available in the US, the UK, the European Union and Australia. Access may also be restricted depending on the region and the asset.
