The market for tokenized stocks is growing rapidly. On-chain transfer volume surged 415% over the past 30 days to $29.5 billion.
Cointelegraph reported on Aug. 29, citing data from on-chain real-world asset platform RWA.xyz, that monthly active addresses for tokenized stocks climbed more than 209% to about 1.3 million. The number of holders rose 167% to more than 2.36 million.
The total value of tokenized stocks circulating on-chain increased 1.45% over the same period to $2.54 billion, the data showed. That was 637% higher than $344 million a year earlier.
By platform, Ondo was the largest with $842.8 million. Kraken’s xStocks followed at $609.3 million, and Binance’s bStocks stood at $599.9 million. Together, the three platforms accounted for about 81% of the market.
Among individual tokenized stocks, Securitize Corp. was the largest at about $163 million. Strategy PP Variable xStock followed at $136 million, while Ondo’s tokenized Circle Internet Group shares stood at $109 million.
Major crypto platforms are also expanding tokenized stock offerings as the market grows. Coinbase launched tokenized U.S. stocks on Base, its layer-2 network, on Aug. 24. Users outside the U.S. can trade shares of major companies including Nvidia, Apple, Meta and Alphabet around the clock and use them in decentralized finance, or DeFi, services.
A day later, Bitwise introduced an automated portfolio product based on Coinbase’s tokenized stocks. It offers thematic investment strategies tied to the Magnificent Seven, robotics and artificial intelligence.
Earlier, Bybit began supporting tokenized shares of U.S. companies including Nvidia, Apple and Tesla as collateral for margin loans in July. Arcus, a decentralized exchange backed by Robinhood, also launched more than 95 stock tokens and a perpetual futures market on Robinhood Chain.
