Oil prices extended gains. West Texas Intermediate crude advanced 0.99% to $86.33 a barrel, while Brent crude climbed 1.15% to $92.32.
In foreign-exchange markets, the dollar fell 0.09% against the yen to 159.809 yen and slipped 0.12% versus the offshore yuan to 6.72072 yuan.
