David Solomon, chief executive officer of Goldman Sachs, said the US economy is performing well and consumers remain resilient.
Walter Bloomberg reported on August 31 that Solomon said, "The economy is doing well" and that consumers are "still quite resilient."
On credit markets, Solomon said he does not currently see many major risk factors. "At this point, we're not finding a lot of risk in the credit system," he said.
He also pointed to high US government spending and debt as a burden. Given current spending and debt levels, the US needs to continue delivering stronger economic growth, Solomon said.
