U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent pushed back against veteran investor Stanley Druckenmiller’s criticism of intervention in the U.S. Treasury market.

Walter Bloomberg reported on August 31 that Bessent, referring to the timing of an opinion piece Druckenmiller submitted criticizing the intervention, said he would have lost money at the time.

Bessent also highlighted the performance of the Treasury market since the start of the Trump administration. He said U.S. Treasuries have been the best-performing market since President Donald Trump took office.

Druckenmiller had earlier criticized Bessent’s efforts to intervene in the U.S. Treasury market.
