Publicly traded investment vehicles led by prominent investors including Warren Buffett, Cathie Wood and Michael Saylor have underperformed the S&P 500 so far this year, Cointelegraph reported on September 31.

Public vehicles run or led by David Einhorn, Wood, Buffett, Bill Ackman, Carl Icahn and Saylor have all trailed the benchmark index on a year-to-date basis.

The investors employ different strategies, ranging from value and growth stocks to activist investing and Bitcoin. Even so, each has lagged the broader market this year.

The report did not provide the specific year-to-date returns for each investment company or how far each trailed the S&P 500.
