Kospi Slides 3.99% to Close at 6,562.72

The Kospi slid nearly 4% on Sept. 2, dropping back into the 6,500 range.

The benchmark closed at 6,562.72, down 273.08 points, or 3.99%, from the previous session, according to the Korea Exchange. The decline snapped a three-session advance since Aug. 28.

The Kospi opened at 6,625.47, down 210.33 points, or 3.08%, from the previous close. It pared losses to 6,694.57 during the session before extending its drop and falling back into the 6,500 range.

The Kosdaq also fell, closing at 803.98, down 17.27 points, or 2.10%, from the previous session. It marked a third straight day of declines.

In Seoul's foreign-exchange market, the won closed daytime trading at 1,368.7 per dollar, down 1.7 won from the previous day's close.
