Japan plans to develop satellites equipped with artificial intelligence to accelerate military decision-making.
Walter Bloomberg reported on September 4 that Japan's Defense Ministry will work with domestic companies to develop a test AI satellite from fiscal 2027 through fiscal 2029.
The AI satellite is set to help speed the processing of information and judgments needed to decide on military counterstrikes.
Japan also plans to launch the test satellite after fiscal 2030 to verify its functions and performance in space.
