The Financial Times reported on Sept. 7 that Hong Kong imported about $14.5 billion of gold from Russia during the first seven months of 2026.

That marks a sharp increase from 2019, when Hong Kong imported almost no Russian gold.

The rapid rise in Russian gold flowing into Hong Kong in recent years has expanded the city’s role in global gold trading flows.
