Bithumb Holdings, the holding company of South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb, has appointed former Bithumb external affairs chief Kim Ki-bum as its new chief executive.
News1 reported on September 8 that Bithumb Holdings recently approved Kim's appointment at a board meeting. Bithumb Holdings is Bithumb's largest shareholder, holding a 73% stake.
Kim previously served as a director in charge of legal affairs and external cooperation at IMI, and later as Bithumb's president for external affairs. He has overseen external affairs and legal work at Bithumb since 2017.
Lee Jae-won, who had concurrently served as CEO of both Bithumb and Bithumb Holdings, will step down as head of the holding company. Under the reshuffle, Lee will focus on managing Bithumb, while Kim will handle internal and external communications and compliance management at the holding company level.
