Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy claimed it destroyed a U.S. unmanned surface vessel at the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz.

Walter Bloomberg reported on September 10 that the IRGC Navy identified the destroyed vessel by hull number 5838.

The Revolutionary Guard also claimed the Strait of Hormuz remains blocked and under Iran’s control, and warned that any hostile vessel approaching the waterway would be attacked.

The U.S. has not confirmed either the destruction of the unmanned vessel or Iran’s claim that it controls the Strait of Hormuz. The claims have not been independently verified.
