The CLARITY Act, a U.S. cryptocurrency market structure bill, failed to secure the 60 votes needed in the Senate to advance to floor consideration.

Cointelegraph reported on September 15 that the bill fell short of the 60-vote threshold required in a procedural Senate vote.

Republicans and Democrats continued negotiating key issues, including ethics provisions, until just before the vote, but failed to reach a final agreement.

As a result, Senate action on the CLARITY Act has been temporarily halted. It remains unclear when the bill may be reintroduced or whether additional negotiations will take place.
