Eleanor Terrett, host of the Crypto in America podcast, reported on Sept. 15 that Alsobrooks said more than 70 million Americans are participating in an unregulated industry. She said lawmakers have a responsibility to regulate it.
Alsobrooks also criticized Republican leadership, saying it pushed ahead with the vote while refusing to hold President Donald Trump accountable over what she described as corruption in the crypto industry. She said Republicans were playing political games.
Alsobrooks was one of two Democrats who voted in May in the Senate Banking Committee to advance the Clarity Act to the floor. She voted against it in the Sept. 15 procedural vote.
